In Our Community

Investing At Home

Your Flin Flon Credit Union has long been a supporter of various events in the community both big and small.  On average the FFCU spends more than $10,000 annually on donations and sponsorships in the community.

If you have an event or cause upcoming and would like to seek some financial support, please feel free to write a request to the Board of Directors and it will be reviewed at the next Regular Board Meeting.

For your convenience we have an online form in the left hand column (under Community Programs>Corporate Sponsorship) that may be completed and submitted for consideration.

Of course, every local project is important and we would like to contribute to every on, but that is not financially possible.  Thank you for providing us the opportunity to assist and we wish you nothing but success in your community endeavours.

2025 WILDFIRE INFORMATION

On May 28th, 2025 mandatory evacuation orders were issued to the communities of Flin Flon, MB, Creighton, SK and Denare Beach, SK followed on May 29, 2025.

The impact of the Club fire and the Wolf fire will be felt in our communities for some time.  Our hearts are with our family, friends and neighbours who lost homes or cabins to these violent wildfires which grew to a size of over 140km long and 5km wide.

If you are a mortgage holder and have suffered damage or a loss of your property, your first contact should be your insurance company to begin your claim process.

After that process is started, you should notify your financial institution that may hold your property as collateral on a mortgage or loan.  They will then work with you and your insurance company to ensure that the next steps are clear for all involved.  You are often still expected to make your monthly payments, although many insurance policies will have a monthly amount that they will provide to you to handle the additional costs of renting another living space, if required.

This time is traumatizing.  Even an evacuation away from your home, work, family and life can provide excessive stress to most people.  If you have questions, please do not hesistate to contact during the evacutation at our emergency phone numbers:
204-271-1632
204-271-0170
204-271-2184

There are a number of resources to assist people who may be impacted by wildfires through the Insurance Brokers of Manitoba, Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.  We have uploaded these materials or provided links below.

Like everyone, we await further word from our communities as to when it may be safe to return. We offer tremendous thanks to the firefighters, the emergency public works staff, the councillors and all additional service people who are working to get our community ready for the day we can all safely return.
We ask everyone to be patient, be safe, be strong.
