Financial Service Manager

Position Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Financial Service Manager will oversee and coordinate branch operations and activities within defined policies and procedures.  The Financial Service Manager fosters an advice based culture through training, coaching and behaviour and contributes to the growth and profitability of the organization through the sale of products and services.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the organizations lending portfolio including training, review, approval and monitoring of collection and delinquency.  Experience and understanding of consumer and commercial credit would be required.
  • Manages branch staffing requirements and provides supervision to financial services staff including other supervisors; hires, trains and ensures ongoing development of staff through ongoing coaching and feedback; addresses staff performance issues.
  • Oversee Credit Union administrative and compliance activities as assigned including audit activities, preparation and review of various reports, identification of opportunities to improve effectiveness of branch operations and implementation of new procedures and practices.
  • Maintain proficiency in and assist staff and members in the execution of lending and investment inquiries and/or issues including but not limited to Term Deposits, RRSP, Estates, TFSA and products governed under legislation.
  • Plan, conduct and preside over branch or lending meetings in General Manager's absence.
  • Participate as a member of the management team with monthly meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Provide support to the General Manager for delivery on the organization's mission and objectives.  Engage and provide insight along with other management to the Board of Directors during the Strategic Planning process.
  • Provide input as required to the General Manager in the preparation of annual performance appraisals.
  • Assumes the responsibilites of the General Manager and/or Member Services Manager in times of absence and as required.

Qualifications Required

Ideal Candidate

Will preferably have a certificate or degree from a recognized college or university in business, finance or related field along with a minimum three to five years related lending experience; or equivilant combination of education and experience.  Experience in a leadership role, preferably in financial services, would be considered an asset.  Salary will be based on qualifications and experience and includes a comprehensive Benefit Package.
